Indoor concealed systems
Supply, return, outside-air and exhaust ductwork insulated with the specified blanket, board or liner-related assembly while maintaining vapor-control continuity.
RAVENSHADETHERMAL GROUPCommercial HVAC · indoor · exposed · exterior
Commercial duct wrap, rigid board and protected exterior systems for controlled heat transfer, condensation resistance and a durable finished installation.
Ductwork environments
Concealed interior duct, exposed architectural duct and rooftop systems do not face the same conditions. Ravenshade follows the specified material and finish while coordinating the real field details that keep the assembly continuous.
Supply, return, outside-air and exhaust ductwork insulated with the specified blanket, board or liner-related assembly while maintaining vapor-control continuity.
Visible ductwork requires thermal performance plus straight lines, aligned seams, clean terminations and finishes suited to occupied or service areas.
Outdoor duct insulation needs a complete weatherproofing strategy—including insulation, vapor control, durable jacketing, sealed laps, penetrations and water-shedding details.
Common system families
| System family | Typical use | Field priorities |
|---|---|---|
| Fiberglass duct wrap | Specified concealed rectangular or round commercial ductwork. | Consistent compression, sealed facing, tight transitions and complete coverage around connections. |
| Rigid fiberglass board | Exposed interior and specified exterior ductwork requiring a firm, clean substrate. | Secure attachment, sealed joints, square corners and compatibility with the finish system. |
| Exterior weatherproofing | Rooftop or otherwise weather-exposed ductwork. | Water-shedding layout, sealed seams, UV and weather resistance, reinforced penetrations and serviceable details. |
| Grease-duct systems | Commercial kitchen exhaust where a listed insulation assembly is specified. | Installation in accordance with the selected system listing, layer requirements, overlaps, banding and penetration details. |
Exterior ductwork is not simply indoor insulation placed outside. The insulation, vapor control, jacket, seams, penetrations and water-management details must work together under actual weather exposure.
Ravenshade approach
Schedules, notes, details, specifications and addenda can divide duct insulation by service and location. We reconcile those sources before installation.
Hangers, trapezes, access doors, dampers, sensors and adjacent trades all affect insulation continuity and long-term serviceability.
We focus on sealed facings, controlled penetrations, clean terminations and compatible exterior finishes where the assembly is most vulnerable.
Commercial duct insulation FAQ
Our work includes specified supply, return, outside-air and exhaust duct systems, including concealed interiors, exposed interiors, rooftops and specialty applications.
Condensation forms when the exterior surface temperature falls below the surrounding air's dew point. Insufficient insulation, compressed material, damaged facing, open seams, unsealed penetrations or difficult ambient conditions can all contribute.
Yes. Ravenshade can assess the insulation failure, perform controlled insulation removal and cleaning within our scope, and install a corrected replacement assembly. See our condensation and damaged-insulation page for the full approach.
We are based in Pittsburgh and serve Western and Central Pennsylvania, with work extending north toward Erie and east toward Johnstown.
